Strange Occasions for the week of September 15th, 2010

One week after a New Avengers installment it is no surprise that Doctor Strange is not a major player in any of this weeks books. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t some great Strange Occasions though.

Super Hero Squad #9 – Strange Dr. Strange is not a player in “The Contest”, one of the shorts in this issue, but he does hold a prominent place in the title panel. He also appears twice more in the story as in incidental character. I must admit, Squaddie Strange really does “rock the mustache”.

Heroic Age: Heroes #1 – This is another one of Marvel’s increasingly prevalent dossier books, this time from the point of view of Steve Rogers. Unlike the previous ones, however, this one has Doctor Strange.

I think this character blurb might be something for us to pay attention to. It very well may sum up Marvel’s current opinion of just who this character is, and the direction they want to take him. Also in this book are the profiles for Doctor Voodoo: Sorcerer Supreme, and Night Nurse, my personal favorite of Strange’s romantic interests.

Avengers and the Infinity Gauntlet #2 – Last, but certainly not least, is this gem. I cannot remember the last time that I have laughed so loud or so sincerely while reading a comic. I highly recommend you go buy this book, even though Doctor Strange’s whole appearance is this tiny bit in the end of the book:

If you saw the Sorcerer Supreme M.O.D.O.K. Masher in any other titles this week please post it in the comments and I will add it to the list. Also, remember to check in sometime on Friday to see who will be receiving their very own Sorcerer Supreme card for the Super Hero Squad Online offline card game in the mail.

One Response to Strange Occasions for the week of September 15th, 2010

  1. crapity-crap-crap…
    Three more issues that I didn’t pre-order.

I’ve been so busy with job-hunting and ailing kitties that I’ve had no time to properly acquaint myself with the current crop of comics – OR wrap up my blog-post on the whole New Avengers and O.M.I.T. fiascos.

Good thing “STRANGE OCCASIONS” is here to carry the ball.
