Strange Occasions for the week of July 14th, 2010

One week away from New Avengers #2, can you even sleep? While Doctor Strange himself was not in any of the weeklies, a lot of characters directly related to Strange were. There were a couple of significant reprints as well.

Infinity Gauntlet Premiere Hardcover (reprint) – The new printing of the Marvel classic epic event. This is some  serious cosmic level business and the kind of story that Strange should be involved in.

Invincible Iron Man Vol. 04: Stark Disassembled – When Tony Stark loses his mind within his own mind who else to call in to guide him back but Doctor Strange? I really enjoyed these couple of issues even though I am not a big Iron Man fan. I especially like that Fraction remembered that Strange has mastered both the mystic and martial arts. You don’t need a surgeon’s dexterity to punch some costumed fool in the face.

Toyfare 157 – Okay, so it’s a Doctor Strange toy in a slapstick story about the Spider-Man musical. I am going to count it though. Who else but the Illuminati could have made anything good come from that?

Girl Comics 3 (Clea) – This one panel in the Girl Comics intro speech is her entire inclusion.

I later noticed something that could change the face of Marvel Magic as we know it. Nestled in a tiny corner of Carla Speed McNeil’s fun story “Mixology at Terato Gena’s” is a shocking revelation…

World War Hulks: Wolverine vs. Captain America #1 (Doctor Voodoo) – I could not follow this back-up story at all, but it is late and Wednesdays are long for me. Voodoo shows up in one panel in what I assume is a flashback to a date with Photon, like back in Marvel Divas.

Thanos Imperative #2 – I have never been a big reader of the cosmic stuff, Marvel or otherwise. Why explore the mysteries of space when you can explore the mysteries of mysticism? I think I have been missing out though. There is some big stuff going on in this book and it looks really interesting. The Guardians of the Galaxy even fight an alternate dimensional version of the Defenders; including Doctor Strange, Hellcat, the Hulk, Valkyrie, Nighthawk, and Namor.

If you saw the Sorcerer Supreme Exiled Ex-Orderly in any other titles this week please post it in the comments and I will add it to the list.
